Board Meeting September 21, 1996 Kansas City, Missouri

The meeting opened at 8:15 a.m. brought to order by President Jocelyn Barker.

A motion was made by Robert Hall, seconded by Judy Dorough, to approve the Standard as revised. Motion passed unanimously. Jocelyn Barker will type the revised Standard and send proofs to the Committee and than on to AKC for their approval.

Cathi DiGiacomo asked permission to donate a Water ford Crystal Delegate’s trophy in honor of our recognition by AKC. It will be a Challenge Trophy to be awarded to Best of Winners at Nationals. A Motion was made by Judy Dorough, seconded by Darlene Wright and passed unanimously to accept Cathi’s donation.

A Best Bred by Exhibitor Challenge Trophy was discussed.  Robert Hall will donate a Challenge Trophy to Best Junior Handler.

A motion was made by Cathi DiGiacomo, seconded by Kim Philipps to accept Shirley Rafferty’s resignation as Membership Secretary.  Motion passed unanimously.

A motion was made by Cathi DiGiacomo, seconded by Jo Ann Leistner to have our redistricting take effect on January 1, 1997. Motion passed unanimously.

Discussion followed on conference calling. Jim McFarland will set up the account for the Board of Directors to use. Jim will obtain costs and different options and present it to the Board for approval A motion was made by Judy Dorough, seconded by Jo Ann Leistner to give Jim the approval to explore the options. Motion passed unanimously.

Robert Hall would like to do a Breeders’ Seminar at Nationals. Top Breeders would make a presentation. Topics might cover genetics, how to look at a pedigree, etc. Robert wants to do a Judges’ Seminars for breeders and the membership. Robert is asking for volunteers. If none come forward, Robert will appoint them. Breeders’ Seminar will be held at Nationals on Wednesday evening. Judges’ Seminar will be held on Thursday evening. A tentative schedule for Nationals was approved.

Kim Philipps asked about a rescue packet and questioned the process for getting reimbursement. Kim also asked if it could be submitted to the Board for clarification. It was explained to Kim that we have a Board-approved Rescue Packet and that she needs to contact the National Rescue Committee for a copy.

The CSPCA needs people to submit proposals to host the 1998 Nationals.
