Executive Session Board Meeting on  9/30/09 in conjunction with the 2009 National Specialty Show in Denver, CO.

Executive session was called to order by Grace Fritz at 4:40 pm Mountain Time on Wednesday, September 30, 2009. In attendance Board Members: Grace Fritz, Dr. Jeff Vidt, Marilyn Currey, Georgette Schaefer, Rosie Steinke, Dorothy Schuerman, Beverly Wall, and Gail Garrison.

The minutes from the August 31, 2009 Executive session were approved.

A motion was made by Georgette Schaefer and seconded by Dorothy Schuerman to approve all new applications for membership that were listed in the September Newsletter except for Linda Outlaw. The motion passed.   Two CSPCA members submitted objections to Linda OutlawÕs application. Her application will be considered at the next meeting. She will be mailed a letter informing her of the objection and asking her to submit information on behalf of her application.

A motion was made by Beverly Wall and seconded by Gail Garrison to approve Loretta Anders as Chair of the CSPCA Top Dog program.  Motion passed.

A motion was made by Beverly Wall and seconded by Gail Garrison to approve Lisa Myers as the CSPCA Junior Advisor.  Motion passed.

The CSPCA Rescue Trust Calendars were discussed. The CSPCA will sell the calendars. We are recouping the price of the calendars ($3199) and the proceeds from the sales will go to the CSPCA Rescue Trust. The price of the 2010 Rescue Calendars is as follows:  $10.00 each or 3 for $25.00.

A discussion took place on the price of Junior Memberships. Currently, a Junior Membership costs $10.00.  The goal is to increase the number of juniors in the CSPCA program and to facilitate their membership in our club. Juniors will still need parental permission and sponsorship of a CSPCA member in good standing to apply for a junior membership. A motion was made by Marilyn Currey and seconded by Beverly Wall for Junior Membership to be free.  Motion passed.

A discussion took place regarding our National Show Judge Selection process. It was felt that the term Òbreeder judgeÓ should be more clearly defined as some potential judges may not bred litters or shown a Shar-Pei for a substantial period of time.  A motion was made by Rosie Steinke and seconded by Gail Garrison regarding the definition for a breeder judge (in relation to Nationals and the selection process) as being a breeder or co-breeder that has bred a litter in the past 10 years. Motion passed. Given the new definition, all future judges in contention for national assignments will be designated as a breeder judge if they have bred or co-bred a litter of Chinese Shar Pei within the past ten years.

The BOD vacancy brought about by Mike LauerÕs resignation was discussed. Two names were presented to the BOD for a vote, Don Gillett & Judy Meitin. The vote was 4-3 for Don Gillett.  This position goes through December 31, 2010.

The members in attendance discussed the upcoming general meeting and executive session that would be held that evening.

Meeting was adjourned at 5:15 p.m. Mountain Time.

Submitted by Georgette Schaefer for Pat Pramuk, CSPCA Secretary.
