SYNOPSIS OF BOARD MEETING – Monday evening 7/13/2009 @ 8:02 p.m. CST by

Meeting called to order by Grace Fritz, President
Secretary-Pat Pramuk, recording.
President’s
Report: Grace reported that the check from Purina mentioned at the last
meeting was earmarked for the CSP Rescue Trust. A check was sent to
them. Harry Roach, Membership Secretary has taken over the PayPal
management on the website. Marge Calltharp agreed to host the
CSPCA booth at the AKC “Meet the Breeds” day in New York City.
Materials are being mailed from Desert to the Sea Club to Marge for the
event on Oct. 16 & 17, 2009. AKC has requested that all
affiliated clubs participate in the AKC pledge on registration. They
request that the affiliated clubs promote the benefits and value of
registration with AKC. The Board agreed to participate in this program.
Secretary’s
Report: AKC has submitted names for Lifetime Achievement Awards in
Conformation, Companion Events and Performance Events. The biographies
of the nominees will be sent to the members list. Minutes were approved
from the April meeting.
Treasurer’s Report: Treasurer Reports were filed for April, May and June 2009.
Barker
Report: Bob Calltharp reported on the transition to the new
printer for the most recent issue. He asked the Board if they liked the
plastic mailer by the new Barker Printer. Board members reported that
they were very satisfied. Bob said that there will be a place added for
name and address change if a member moves. Membership expiration dates
will be made bolder for members to note. Bob requested that any
corrections for Barker to be sent to him by e-mail. Grace Fritz thanked
Bob for the excellent job done on transitioning the Barker to the new
printer.
Applicants for May 1, 2009 newsletter were voted in. No opposition.
The
CSPCA will sponsor the medallions for the December 2009 AKC National
Championship show in Long Beach, California. The Board discussed, but
chose not to sponsor cash prizes in addition to the medallions.
The Board agreed to sponsor an AKC National Championship show catalog
advertisement in addition to advertisement that was placed in the AKC
Gazette 125th Anniversary issue.
Karen Burges,
CSPCA Show Chair reported that the premium is being readied and hs a
scheduled mailing date of Aug. 5th. RV plans were
discussed. There will be no hotel charge for the R.V.’s.
The generator cost appears to be prohibitive and it was decided to
offer lower cost parking without services. The charge for RV parking
will be $10.00 a night. If a person purchases five nights of parking,
they will get a free Honey Wagon dump.
Rosie
Steinke is offering additional JR. Show awards for the National show.
She will coordinate her donations with Karen Burgess.
Deb
Camp emailed a proposal to Board members. She participated in a
discussion on Equity Commerce Credit Card services. The board will
continue discussions on credit services.
The 2011 Judge Selection ballot was approved. Ballots are to be returned to Pat Pramuk six weeks after mailing date.
The
Board agreed to reinstate the award for Top Sire and Top Dam. The
award will be based on AKC records for each year indicated the Top Sire
and Top Dam. The plaques for winners will be presented at the annual
awards banquet. It was agreed that these awards should be retroactive
from the last time it was awarded. (1997.)
Beverly
Wall reported on a rescue fundraiser. David King has given permission
for his images to be used on a 2010 calendars that will be sold at
Nationals for Rescue. Tammy Browning Smith is coordinating this project
and is going to incorporate important CSPCA dates on the calendar.
Junior
showmanship awards to be given at the annual banquet will be
standardized. The Top Jr. Showman for the CSPCA will receive a
plaque and the Top Junior in each region will receive a certificate. If
additional awards are desired, they would be paid for from the Juniors
Fund.
Board approved a CSPCA Distinguished Canine Citizen Award to “Lydia .” Lydia was nominated by Alice Fix.
The
Centennial Club has planned a Health Seminar in conjunction with the
Colorado State Veterinary Society at our Nationals 2009. Animal
health professionals will be invited to attend this seminar focusing on
Chinese Shar-Pei health concerns. Corporate sponsorship is being sought
to underwrite this seminar. The CSPCA agreed to pay up to $2000
towards lunch for attendees if needed.
Cate Stewart was approved to be the new CSPCA CERF Chairman.
