The President Grace Fritz was at her home in Stilwell, Kansas and the Secretary was at her home in Griffith, Indiana.
Board members present: Grace Fritz, President; Jeff Vidt, Vice-President; Marilyn Currey, Treasurer; Pat Pramuk, Secretary; Roy Anderson, Western Director; Tim Bergeron, Central Director; Georgette Schaefer, Eastern Director; and Directors-at-Large, Alice Fix, Marilyn Vinson, Beverly Wall, Gail Garrison, Mike Lauer and Debby Smith.
Non-voting members present were: Joan Franson, Professional Registered Parlimenterian, Lee Arnold,
(CSP Charitable Trust), Bob Calltharp (Berkshire Spur CSPCA) Marge Calltharp (Barker Editor), Sandy Woodall (Barker Staff), signed in at 8:15 p.m. CST.; Jocelyn Barker (F/M Director) signed in at 9:15 p.m. CST.
The meeting was called to order @8:00 p.m. CST.
Minutes from January 31, 2008 were approved with no opposition.
Applicants listed in Oct./ Nov./ Dec. 2007 Barker were approved with no opposition.
REPORTS:
PRESIDENT’S REPORT: Marge Calltharp has agreed to stay on as Barker Editor. We are looking for a Managing Editor to assist with the Barker. 7-8 applications were sent out to parties of interest with request to return application by April 10, 2008.
SECRETARY’S REPORT: Rev. Alan Klessing was selected by majority of votes by secret ballot, by the Board of Directors, to receive the AKC-CSPCA Sportsmanship Award for the year 2007. Grace Fritz will let Rev. Allan Klessing know of his award and also write and article in the Barker. He will be presented with a medal at our National Specialty in 2008.
Candidate for club office in 2008 as follows: Vice-President – Jeff Vidt, Treasurer – Marilyn Currey, Central Director – Rosie Steinke, Directors-At-Large: Gail Garrison, Cate Stewart, Karen Burgess, Dorothy Schuerman, Mike Lauer and Terry Faulkner.
TREASURER’S REPORT: None
COMMITTEE REPORTS: CHARITABLE TRUST LEE ARNOLD reported that his annual report for 2007 is on the Trust Fund Web site. Briefly the Trust had 2007 donations of $15,568.00. This amount is down from 2006 which totaled over $22,000. Grants being supported as follows: 460 (shar-pei fever), canine mast cell, canine bone marrow, canine lymphoma, and genetic lesions. Dr. Linda Tintle and Dr. Jeff Vidt are also involved with approving these grants. He thanked members and the Board for their support and efforts.
OBEDIENCE CHAIRMAN JEFF VIDT reported that we need historical documentation that our breed is a herding breed before we can pursue inclusion in herding trial with AKC. He received a letter from AKC in reference to this matter which will be posted to the members list. Discussed possibility of Herding Apptitude Testing.
FUTURITY/MATURITY CHAIRMAN JOCELYN BARKER presented concerns regarding the length of time required for applicants to attain membership to be able to show in F/M. This may necessitate in change of By-Laws. In the mean time breeder may need to stay on as owner or co-owner of puppy to be shown in F/M till new applicant is approved.

NEW BUSINESS:
Motion was made by Georgette Schaefer to approve the PPM wording for Scroll of Honor, and Dorothy Schuerman as volunteer. Seconded by Beverly Wall. No opposition, motion carried.
“The Scroll of Honor is a document which recognizes by name any dog that passed away during the previous calendar year (January 1 through December 31), thus honoring its life and achievements. This would include the show dogs and the great family pets. This commemorative list will appear yearly in the second quarterly issue (April/May/June) of the Barker, as well as on the CSPCA website. Any CSPCA member can submit the name of a dog that they owned to be recognized. The listing should include the name of the dog, call name of the dog, date of birth and death. There is no charge for this service. Details as to where one submits his nomination(s) and the deadline for the submissions will be published in the Barker’s last quarterly issue (October/November/December) and also on the CSPCA Member’s list”
Motion was made by Alice Fix to change the fee paid to the Obedience and Rally judge from $25.00 to $75.00 and drop the banquet ticket. Seconded by Georgette Schaefer. No Opposition, motion carried.
Motion was made by Gail Garrison to accept the change regarding the PPM Invitational Proposal and seconded by Alice Fix.

Motion was made by Alice Fix to adopt the PPM wording for CSPCA selection process to award the AKC Sportsmanship Award. Seconded by Gail Garrison.
CSPCA GUIDELINES FOR THE AWARD ARE AS FOLLOWS:
Any CSPCA member in good standing or any CSPCA Affiliated club may nominate any CSPCA member in good standing for this award based on the AKC Code of Sportsmanship. Nominations open on June 15, and must be received by the current CSPCA Secretary on or before August 1 each year. Nominations must be submitted in writing, and limited to 300 words or less, and signed by the person submitting the nominations. All nominees and nominators will be verified as to being members in good standing of the CSPCA before nomination is considered.
The CSPCA Board of Directors will select the winning nomination by secret ballot from the submitted nominations. The medallion will be awarded at the CSPCA Awards Banquet at the National Specialty, along with a certificate of recognition.
CSPCA Members are only eligible to win this award once. Only one award will be presented a year. However, in any year that this award is not presented, the award for that year may be presented the following year. In the event of a tie for the award, the person’s last name that comes first in the alphabet will receive the award for that year, and the other nominee, in the tie, will receive the award the following year. In that case the following year there will be no nominations solicited.
Announcements calling for nominations will be sent by the CSPCA Award Chairman to be included in the April/May/June Barker. The name of the winner of the award will be announced in the Jan/Feb/March issue of the Barker along with the wording on the nomination form.

ADOPT PROPOSED WORDING FOR PPM REGARDING THE AWARDING OF POINTS/MILES
Motion was made by Georgette Schaefer that all miles and benefits are to be held by the club Treasurer and kept in an account to be used to the benefit of the CSPCA. No travel miles could be spent without approval from the Board with the amendment to be used as specified. Seconded by Marilyn Vinson. No opposition from the Board. Motion passed.
NATIONAL SPECIALTY SHOW GUIDELINES
Motion was made by Beverly Wall that we adopt the proposed National Specialty Show Guidelines document in contracting with host hotels. (attached). Seconded by Alice Fix. No opposition from the Board. Motion passed.
MONIES FOR 2008 NATIONAL SHOW RECEPTION
Motion was made by Marilyn Vinson to allot the amount of $500.00 to host the reception at the National show for 2008. Seconded by Beverly Wall. No opposition from the Board. Motion passed.
PROPOSAL FOR ANNUAL DONATION
Motion was made by Gail Garrison to make a minimum donation of $2500 yearly to the CSP Charitable Trust and CSPCA Rescue Trust each starting in 2008. This is to be reviewed on a yearly basis and as the club finances allow. A guaranteed annual donation will help the Trust budget for each year. Seconded by Georgette Schaefer. No opposition from the Board. Motion passed.
CSPCA INSURANCE COMMITTEE
Motion was made by Alice Fix to move the CSPCA Insurance Committee to an ad-hoc committee. Seconded by Georgette Schaefer. No opposition from the Board. Motion was passed.
NEW MEMBERS PACKET
Motion was made by Alice Fix to accept the bid to print New Members packet. The Printery – 200 copies 24# paper at $323.63 total bid ($1.66 per booklet). Seconded by Debby Smith. No opposition from the Board. Motion was passed.
PUPPY SOCIALIZATION ARTICLE
Motion was made by Debby Smith to approve Puppy Socialization article as presented by Public Education Committee. Seconded by Jeff Vidt. No opposition from the Board. Motion was passed.
