Grace Fritz made a motion, seconded by Bob Rosenberger, to approve the new members printed in the March/April and the May/June 2007 Barkers. The motion passed unanimously.

NEW BUSINESS

Deb Cooper made a motion, seconded by Gail Garrison to approve the following National Specialty Judges Selection Proposal :

Judges selection Nominations and Balloting Procedure Nomination and Balloting Process for Selecting National Specialty Judges

Nominations for Judges for the 2010 National Specialty will be collected

at this year’s national show. The nominations will be used to develop a ballot that will be mailed at a later date. A club roster will be printed, and anyone filling out a nomination form will initial next to his or her name on the roster as they put a nomination form in the box. The catalog sales or Public Education table workers will monitor the box. Regular and non-regular judge nominations will be open to any CSP licensed judge who has not judged Best of B reed at our national show or regional show* for the past five years. CSP licensed Judges who have judged classes or sweepstakes assignments at the National show or regional show will be eligible to be nominated five years after their assignment. (*For the purposes of this document, references to the regional show include the CSPCA regional show or host club specialty held in conjunction with the CSPCA National Specialty.) Any CSPCA member at the show may complete a National Show Judging panel nomination form and enter three names into consideration for the 2010 Judging Panel. A current club roster will be used to determine if the CSPCA membership is a single (one nomination form) or family (two nomination forms) membership.

Any CSPCA member at the show may also nominate sweepstakes judges that meet the criteria (from the CSPCA PPM) outlined on the nomination form. Sweepstakes nominations will be recorded in the same manner as the regular class nominations, with a single membership having one nomination form and a family membership having two nomination forms.

A sheet listing the criteria for sweepstakes judges will be available and

nominations will be collected for persons meeting the criteria. Club members meeting the criteria may also nominate themselves for consideration.

Sweepstakes nominees must not have judged sweepstakes or regular/ non-regular classes at a national show or regional show for five years.

Each regional director will appoint a CSPCA member from their region to

count the collected nominations. The cut off for nominations will be the conclusion of the annual Awards Banquet, and nominations will be counted before the end of the show.

From the names collected, a ballot will be developed by the Judge Selection Committee that includes the most frequently nominated names that have indicated their desire to have their name on the ballot, and meet the other outlined criteria.

All judges will be eligible within the criteria of not having judged the

National Specialty or Regional Show* in the previous 5 years. Breeder judges will be contracted for Best of Breed no more than once every three years.

Breeder Judges who are among the top vote getters in a year not on the three year rotation, may accept assignments for regular classes, or may choose to be placed on the ballot again when breeder judges are eligible for judging

BOB.* A ballot mailing list will be compiled from the current and preceding

two years’ National Specialty show catalog. Ballots will be mailed to those current members who have an entry listed. In addition to the National Show catalogs, the ballot mailing list will also incorporate the most recent exhibitor list from CSPCA Affiliated clubs and CSPCA Regional Specialty Show catalogs.

A main goal of this nominating and voting procedure is to allow those

active and supportive of our National Specialty shows and the affiliated club specialty shows to select the judges they would like to see hired for future National shows. The mailing list will include any current CSPCA member who is an owner or co-owner of any dog or bitch entered in the CSPCA National Specialty Show for the current and preceding two years. The official show catalogs and the official membership list will be used to develop the mailing list. The official show catalogs will be considered the accurate record of those who entered the CSPCA National Specialty Show and the Affiliated Club Specialty and CSPCA Regional Specialty shows.

Ballots will be returned to a designated CSPCA member or Teller’s

Organization as approved by the CSPCA Board of Directors. The method to be used in tabulation will be clearly noted on the Nomination Form and the Judge Selection Ballot. Names may be used only one time on each form per category, and ranking will be determined by a simple majority.

Judges for the Performance events are not subject to the 5 year rule, as

these Judges are selected from the area local to the Nationals location, and their selection process will remain unchanged. Performance judge selection is not affected by the criteria listed in this document.

2010 CSPCA National Specialty Judges Nomination Form Each CSPCA member that is present at Nationals is entitled to nominate judges for the 2010 National Specialty. Individual members are entitled to one nomination form, and Family memberships are entitled to two nomination forms.

Every person submitting a nomination must initial next to their name on the club roster so their CSPCA membership can be verified. Please read the instructions for each set of judges ensure the people you nominate are eligible.

Also check the posted list of ineligible judges before making your nominations.

Each voter is entitled to vote for three different judges in each category.

Naming a judge more than once will result in wasting your additional vote(s) for the same person in that category, as names will be counted only once in

each category on the nomination form. Votes will be tallied the same with no

regard as to whether the names are listed first or last.

The motion passed unanimously.

Grace Fritz made a motion, seconded aby Mike Lauer to approve up to $500.00 for a parliamentarian for the National Annual Membership Meeting. The motion passed unanimously. Iaren has been in contact with two possible parliamentarians and both should be under $500 for their services and travel costs.

Marilyn Vinson made a motion, seconded by Alice Fix , to approve a request that the CSPCA request that AKC lower the Shar-Pei obedience jump height to 3/4 of the height of the dog. Jeff Vidt will draft the letter for Karen’s signature. The motion passed unanimously.

Debby Smith made a motion, seconded by Grace Fritz, to approve a new committee tentatively titled the Hall of Achievement (to be renamed by member contest). Marilyn Vinson will Chair, Cathy Mall will Co-Chair and the purpose of the committee will be to list for permanent record achievements of Chinese Shar-pei within all canine disciplines. Below is the list of potential categories:

We are suggesting four main categories : Hall of Firsts, Hall of Mosts, Hall of Trivia , Hall of CSP History. (Please see list below of suggested

categories.)

Many of these categories such as the Hall of First’s- would not change.

Others -the Hall of Mosts for example- would change as dogs accomplish/qualify for the specified criteria within the appropriate categories.

It is further proposed that a Hall of Trivia be developed to provide a fun area of "trivia" (i.e., the "hot dog trial," the longest living Shar Pei; the smallest or largest Shar Pei; largest litter; etc.) as members submit different supportable trivia facts to the committee.

The Hall of CSP History would include information from Matgo Law, articles about the origins of the breed, remembrances of original members when the breed started, and any other historical fact/ record) that would not fall within the other categories.

(The General) Members(hip)would be able to submit anything they want but the committee will retain right of refusal. All submissions must be documented for

validity.

A committee member would investigate what, if any, information is available and/or verifiable through AKC. Items prior to AKC acceptance will be verified from information in The Barker, other CSP publications, general membership contributions (with required documentation) Any member claiming a title not readily verifiable would be required to provide verification of their claim.

As we have not yet found a name that clearly defines what this encompasses we propose to have a 'contest' for the general members to name the committee.

The person who submits the winning name would receive a 'prize' to be determined. (e.g., Perhaps a half page ad in the Barker, a banquet ticket, donation to rescue in their name. etc.) After the committee is up and running, and the criteria is specified, it would further proposed that this committee eventually come under the auspices of the Historian. Additional committee member(s) would be added to assist in the project as needed.

We are asking the Board to approve the initiation of this committee. It would be launched with the hard information we can readily find. (such as Nationals specialty winners)It will be expanded as information is available.

Recording will include, but not be limited to, the following :
