Minutes of the Meeting of the CSPCA Board of Directors by Teleconference

November 20, 2006

The President Karen Kleinhans was at her home in Pawnee, Illinois and the Secretary Jo Ann Redditt was at her home in Alexandria, Virginia.Board members in attendance were: Karen Kleinhans, President; Jo Ann Redditt,  Secretary; Marilyn Currey, Treasurer; Eastern Director, Mike Lauer; Central Director, Tim Bergeron; Western Director, Bob Rosenberger; Directors At Large, Gail Garrison, Grace Fritz, Deb Cooper, Alice Fix , Debby Smith and Marilyn Vinson. Vice President Alan Klessig was absent,
Guests present were: Scott Strong, Hoosier State CSP Club; Deb Taylor, Presidents' Alliance and Northern Washington CSP Club; Marylen Daly, Long Island  CSP Club; Don Nelson, Golden State CSP Club and Len Camp, Arizona CSPC .

The meeting was called to order at 9:05 EST by President Karen Kleinhans.  Approval of the 9/27/06 minutes were tabled until the next meeting. President's Report - None given.

Secretary's Report - None given.

The Treasurer, Marilyn Currey, reported that the Club has deposited $50,000  in a Certificate of Deposit with Edward Jones at a 5.1% yield, and $20,000 from the general and $20,000 from the show acounts into regular interest bearing accounts. Tim Bergeron made a motion, seconded by Marilyn Vinson to approve the Treasurer's Report of October 31, 2006. The motion passed unanimously by those present.

COMMITTEES

Public Education
Bob Rosenberger made a motion, seconded by Grace Fritz to approve:
1. the "Collars" article
2. the "Doggie in the Window" article
3. the "Designer Dog" article
for use with the Public Education materials. The motion passed unanimously by those present.

Register of Merit

Grace Fritz made a motion, seconded by Alice Fix, to change the calculation dates to June 1 to May 31 beginning in 2007 for the 2008 awards by request of the Register of Merit Committee Chairman. The motion passed unanimously by those present.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

New Members
Alice Fix made a motion, seconded by Gail Garrison, to approve new members listed in the July/August 2006 The Barker. The motion passed unanimously by those present.

NEW BUSINESS

2007 Nationals
Grace made a motion, seconded by Debby Smith, to approve the scheduling changes of two Rally/Obedience Trials on Sunday, Match Sunday night and CSPCA hosting the 2007 Monday Regional being all regular classes plus Veterans (no Sweeps, Stud Dog, Brood Bitch, Brace or Team). The motion passed unanimously by those present.

Longtime Members
Debby Smith made a motion, seconded by Deb Cooper, to establish a 30-year pin for members; to establish half-price membership dues for 30 continuous years of membership and establish $10 membership dues for 40 years of continuous membership. The motion passed unanimously by those present.

Nationals Rotation
Marilyn Currey made a motion, seconded by Michael Lauer, to change the rotation of Nationals to a preferred rotation, whenever possible and reasonable, to Central, Eastern, Central, Western, with a final determination by the CSPCA Board of Directors. 2010 will be Central to begin this rotation. The motion passed unanimously by those present.

Deb Cooper made a motion, seconded by Gail Garrison, to offer CSPCA Affiliated Clubs a one-half page free advertising in addition to a $50 full-page ad in The Barker. The motion passed unanimously by those present. A suggestion was made that Marge Calltharp include a Club Specialty Calendar in The Barker to help Affiliated Club advertise local specialties. 

Marilyn Currey made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Tim Bergeron. The motion passed unanimously by those present. The meeting was adjourned at 10:10 EST.
