Secretary's Report
Marilyn Vinson moved, Alan Klessig seconded that the Board accept the minutes of the February 2002 Teleconference. The motion passed unanimously.
The Secretary gave the official results of the election concerning changing the method of voting. There were 36 votes correctly sent in, all were in favor of the changes. There were 6 votes sent incorrectly, and 2 votes arrived late. With l725 members, this is 2 percent voting. A letter will be sent by the Secretary to the AKC with these results.
The Secretary stated she is receiving many requests for Illustrated Guides to the Shar-Pei. These are to go to the Membership Secretary. Various other Board members are receiving requests for health questions, books recommended, and Illustrated Guides.

Treasurer's Report
The Treasurer was not present.

The President, Karen Kleinhans, is not getting responses to her requests for which days are good for individuals to attend meetings.

Clarification of Written Bids
Written bids/estimates are required for all purchases in excess of $l000 [excluding the Barker, Rescue, and National Specialty Show, which are all covered by separate rules.] A minimum of two bid/estimates must be procured and the Treasurer will keep all bids for a period of one year. Bids/estimates will be appoved by a majority of the Board. Emergency approval can be made by one [l] Officer and one [l] Director of the CSPCA.  Pat Evetts made this motion and it was seconded by Alan Klessig. The motion passed unanimously.

By-Law Committee Re-formation
Marilyn Vinson volunteered to Chair this for the Board. She will gather several names and present them to the Board. Alan Klessig moved, Gail Garrison seconded the motion for Marilyn Vinson to Chair this committee. The motion passed unanimously. There is no time pressure with this, all changes must be approved by the
American Kennel Club. We must see what other clubs have.

Parliamentarian for Houston Nationals Meeting in 2003
A Parliamentarian who is also an AKC Delegate, has volunteered to do this job for our Nationals in Houston in 2003.

Awards Committee
The Procedure Manual mentions the Awards Committee. This can be one person. This person will keep an archive of past winners. There was a discussion of Therapy Dog plaques, ROM plaques, Versatility Dog plaques and others. As the National Club is having financial problems, the Board should know how much these trophies are costing. We don't have a breakdown of the prices of the Awards. The Juniors' Awards come out of the Juniors' Funds. There was a discussion of whether the ROM trophies and the others should come out of the Show Fund. It was decided that they should. This years ribbons are coming from a company named Let Us Do It. We would like to have the totals broken down into what each type of award or plaque costs. Judy Dorough will be asked for a line-item breakdown of these awards. She  needs to be made the Awards Chairperson in the Procedures Manual.

Regional Specialty Guidelines
Chuck Suda has proposed removing the phrase "in conjunction with a Regional Specialty." Marilyn Vinson moved, with Alan Klessig seconding that we approve this change. The motion passed unanimously.

Juniors Statistics
Cyndi Skinner has sent the Juniors Statistics for 2001 to the Board. These will be announced at Nationals in May 2002, and put on the Web Site after this.

Advertising Contract for the Barker
This was received too late for us to go over at this time.

Members who have not renewed.
Marilyn Vinson has been contacting people who have not renewed their memberships. Some people have had old dogs die, some cannot afford to renew, 2 have renewed. She will track the ones she sends out. Dorothy Schuerman has also been sending some inquiries out.

Cover Sheets for the Barker
Cover sheets for the Barker have been changed to saying "Periodical." Marilyn Vinson asks if the cover sheet could be a different color. Jo Ann Redditt informed us that it would be more expensive, and that she has ordered them for a year ahead with black print. She will check on the printing of a different color page. The cover sheet in a bright, neon color would be for the issue containing the ballot only, to get people's attention and remind them to save the cover sheet and label. If they haven't been printed, it can be done.

Barker Covers
Jo Ann Redditt informed the Board that no inside covers or the back cover of the Barker have been sold for the May-June 2002 issue.

Anniversary of the Barker
This is the 25th anniversary of the Barker. This totals about l30 covers. Romana Arnold has agreed to copy the covers of all the Barkers she has for display at Nationals, and then these will go to the Historian. Cathi DiGiacomo is going to try to send as many of the last 25 years of Nationals catalogs as she can locate, as this is also the 25th anniversary of our National Specialty show.

Premium List
The Premium List for Nationals 2002 is finished and is on the Web Site. Under Bryan Timby's name he is prefaced by Mr. instead of Father. Lee Arnold is listed as Chairman of the Charitable Trust, which we hope will remind people that even though there is no Trust Auction this year, the Trust still needs our support..

Newsletter Awards
Jocelyn Barker and Jane Bauman will do the Newsletter Awards for the Club Presidents' Alliance.

Splitting the Coats
Alan Klessig asked if Dee Dee Wells is doing anything concerning splitting the coats into two varieties. She had volunteered several years ago to contact the AKC concerning this.

Article on Amyloidosis in the Barker
Jeff Mauk mentioned that the article on Amyloidosis in the Barker is difficult for a lay person to understand.
Dr. Jeff Vidt, DVM, and Lee Arnold are discussing various avenues to increase our chances of getting professionals to agree to undertake our grants on this subject matter.

The next Board Meeting date will be determined on the Board list.

Alan Klessig moved, Bryan Timby seconded that the meeting be adjourned. The motion passed unanimously.
The time was l0:42 PM Eastern Standard Time

Respectfully,

Susan Lauer, Secretary
